Job summary

City of Lakewood, Washington seeks an IT Administrator to manage core information systems under the CIO/IT Manager. Responsibilities include configuring and maintaining Microsoft servers, VMware/Hyper‑V virtualization, SAN storage, networking, and critical business applications.

You will lead or support the Network Services/Helpdesk, enforce security practices, perform backups, DR planning, and ensure system reliability.

Qualifications

• Two years of college with an emphasis in Computer Science or Information Systems and six years of systems administration experience.
• One year of Information Systems Security experience is desirable.
• Eligible to drive on city business and must meet safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Administrate and maintain Microsoft Active Directory, servers, VMware/Hyper‑V, SAN storage and network infrastructure.
• Perform daily backups, monitor systems, and maintain documentation per City standards.
• Advise on security policies, risk assessments, and disaster recovery planning.
• Lead or support Network Services/Helpdesk operations and provide backup coverage as needed.
• Collaborate with city departments and budget for IT infrastructure projects.
