Job summary

NerdWallet is seeking a Senior IT Systems Administrator to ensure the stability, scalability, and security of the company’s technology infrastructure. You will design, configure, and maintain identity, endpoint, and cloud services, while guiding infra initiatives and automation across teams.

Remote-based in the U.S., the role emphasizes collaboration with Security, DevOps, and HR, with a focus on compliance, documentation, and strategic IT improvements to support growth and risk management.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Proficiency with network infrastructure/troubleshooting and AWS experience
• Experience with IdP/SSO concepts (SAML/OAuth), provisioning (SCIM/JIT), and Okta administration
• Knowledge of security principles, data protection, and least-privilege design
• Automation using code and no-code tools (Okta Workflows, webhooks, APIs, AWS Lambda/Cloud Functions, Python, Bash/ZSH, PowerShell)
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and version control (Git, GitHub)
• Cloud concepts (IaaS, public cloud) and platform administration
• Strong technical communication and ability to produce high-quality runbooks and docs
• Ability to plan projects and drive initiatives to completion
• Experience with change management and defining team processes and best practices
• Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Nice-to-have: AI tools usage, SOX compliance, security standards (NIST, ISO), IT certifications

Responsibilities

• Manage identity platform administration (Okta), SSO, authentication, and access controls
• Automate user lifecycle (onboarding/offboarding) for users, devices, and app access
• Maintain corporate IT infrastructure (networks, servers, firewalls, apps, cloud services AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Oversee endpoint management (Jamf, Intune) including security policy, patching, and vulnerability remediation
• Support SOX auditing and enforce compliance across IT infrastructure processes
• Build automation across IT operations using code and no-code tools to reduce manual toil
• Explore and apply AI/ML approaches to reduce operational burden and improve decision-making
• Evaluate emerging tools for identity management, endpoint security, and IT infrastructure efficiency
• Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation (runbooks, SOPs, guides)
• Collaborate with Security, DevOps, HR, and other teams on infrastructure improvements
• Assist IT leadership with special projects involving sensitive data or confidentiality requirements
