Job summary

NerdWallet, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer focused on AI & Automation within the Security organization. You will build production software and AI-enabled systems to scale security across NerdWallet and improve developer experiences.

Responsibilities include designing AI-enabled workflows, RAG and semantic search across code/docs, and production Python services with strong architecture, auth, testing, and observability. Remote-friendly, US-based role.

Qualifications

• 3+ years professional software engineering experience building and operating production software.
• Strong Python proficiency, including hands-on experience building production backend services and APIs.
• Experience designing maintainable backend architectures with authentication, validation, testing and observability.
• Experience developing distributed or cloud-based systems focusing on scalability and reliability.
• Hands-on experience building production AI-enabled applications or automations using LLM APIs, agents, RAG, or similar.
• Experience defining and evaluating the quality of AI-enabled systems in production.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and move ideas to implementation.
• Strong communication skills to explain tradeoffs and limitations clearly.
• Interest in secure software development and AI security.

• Build tools and platforms that simplify security for engineering teams.
• Improve security workflows with thoughtful software design and automation.
