About the opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced IT Configuration Management Analyst with deep expertise in Micro Focus Universal CMDB (UCMDB) and a strong understanding of the ServiceNow platform. This role will be crucial in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and availability of our Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and its effective integration with ServiceNow to support critical IT processes and service delivery. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, technical, and communication skills, with a passion for data quality and process optimization.

About the opportunity

  • UCMDB Management and Governance:
  • Administer, maintain, and govern the UCMDB platform, ensuring its stability, performance, and adherence to established standards and policies.
  • Design, implement, and manage UCMDB discovery sources, integrations, and reconciliation processes to ensure comprehensive and accurate CI data.
  • Develop and enforce data quality standards, policies, and procedures within the UCMDB.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex data quality issues and integration failures within the UCMDB environment.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of UCMDB upgrades, patching, and performance tuning.
  • ServiceNow CMDB Integration and Data Synchronization:
  • Implement efficient integrations between UCMDB and ServiceNow CMDB.
  • Ensure seamless and accurate bi-directional data synchronization between the platforms.
  • Develop and optimize data transformation rules and processes for effective data exchange.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot integration issues, collaborating with ServiceNow administrators and developers to ensure data consistency.
  • CMDB Data Modeling and Relationship Management:
  • Deep understanding of the UCMDB Common Data Model (CDM) and the ServiceNow CMDB data model.
  • Design and implement effective CI data models and relationship rules within both UCMDB and ServiceNow to accurately reflect the IT environment and service dependencies.
  • Ensure alignment of data models across both platforms.
  • Service Mapping and Business Service Views:
  • Collaborate with service owners and technical teams to define and implement accurate Service Mapping within ServiceNow, leveraging UCMDB data as the authoritative source.
  • Ensure the CMDB accurately represents business services and their underlying IT infrastructure.
  • Contribute to the development of business service views and dashboards for enhanced visibility.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
  • Develop and generate comprehensive reports and dashboards from both UCMDB and ServiceNow CMDB to provide actionable insights into configuration data, data quality metrics, and service health.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Process Definition and Improvement:
  • Define, document, and implement best practices and procedures for configuration management processes, including CI identification, data capture, and maintenance, with a focus on UCMDB and ServiceNow.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives for CMDB data quality, efficiency, and integration.
  • Audit and Compliance Support:
  • Provide expertise and support for internal and external audits related to configuration management data and processes within UCMDB and ServiceNow.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Effectively collaborate with cross-functional IT teams, including Infrastructure, Applications, Security, and Service Management.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts related to CMDB and integrations to both technical and non-technical audiences

Skills and experience we value

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or Business-Related Discipline
  • 5-7 + years of experience understanding the architecture and foundational aspects on CMDB platforms
  • 2-5 years of experience integrating separate software technologies via REST, SOAP, JSON, Partner, or Internal API’s
  • 3+ years of specific work experience in IT Configuration Management or related field
  • 4+ years of topology modeling experience using enterprise class tools
  • 4+ years of dependency mapping experience across the full technology spectrum
  • Strong understanding of the OSI 7-Layer Model and how to identify each layer
  • General understanding of data collection software technology and the various protocols related to accessing data
  • Good understanding of Opentext CMS (uD and uCMDB), ServiceNow, USU and other related technologies
  • Experience integrating separate software technologies via REST, SOAP, JSON, Partner, or Internal API’s
  • Continuous monitoring and logging of all applications layers and all infrastructure
  • Experience with basic Linux and Windows server maintenance
  • Outstanding analytical skills, high level of service orientation, and broad knowledge of the technology industry
  • Strong comprehension to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good understanding of systems architectural concepts and methodologies; infrastructure platforms and their application; business processes, process analysis/management, and IT requirements
  • Experience with mergers & acquisitions and the integration of acquired businesses
  • Experience in proactively comprehending, interpreting, and complying with company policies and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, written, presentation and informing skills
