Job summary

GovCIO is hiring a Senior Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to lead RMF lifecycle activities for complex systems, including emerging AI/ML platforms. The position supports DoD-compliant security programs and provides mentorship to junior ISSO staff.

The role is based in Washington, DC and offers 100% remote work with strong emphasis on A&A, documentation, and security metrics to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of information system security experience
• 8–10+ years in ISSO or cybersecurity compliance role with ISSO of record on assigned systems
• Experience conducting RMF assessments across multiple network environments
• Experience managing multiple concurrent A&A assessments
• Experience developing and maintaining RMF artifact packages: SSPs, SARs, POA&Ms, BOE
• Active DoD 8570.01-M / DoD 8140 compliance — IAM Level II or III (CISSP, CISM, CASP+, or equivalent)
• Clearance Required: Ability to maintain a Public Trust clearance

Responsibilities

• Support all phases of RMF lifecycle from categorization to continuous monitoring across concurrent systems
• Develop and maintain RMF documentation (SSPs, SARs, SAPs, POA&Ms, Contingency Plans, etc.)
• Manage evidence collection and BOE packages for assessments and audits
• Assess and authorize emerging technology systems and adaptability of RMF baselines
• Review vulnerability results and track POA&M remediation through to closure
• Provide security reporting, dashboards, and metrics to system owners and stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with FISMA, NIST SP 800-53 Rev 5, CNSSI 1253 and client policies
• Manage assessment workflow with JIRA and maintain status visibility
• Mentor junior ISSO staff and develop SOPs to improve efficiency
