Job summary

Collins Aerospace, a RTX company, seeks a Director of Intellectual Property / USG Data Rights for a remote role based in the United States. You will lead IP strategy, advise senior management, and manage patent, trademark, and copyright matters while collaborating with engineers and legal teams.

The role requires JD, bar admission, and 5+ years IP experience, plus 5+ years US Government Data Rights experience. Expect up to 10% travel and relocation support as applicable.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years of experience
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
• Must have a Juris doctor degree
• Admitted to the Bar of one or more US States
• 5 + years of IP legal experience
• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
• 5+ years of significant US Government Data Rights experience (e.g., FAR, DFARS. OTA)

Responsibilities

• Drive IP engagement within the business and advise senior management on IP matters
• Negotiate IP agreements and IP aspects of broader agreements with customers, suppliers and partners
• Develop and implement IP strategies aligned with business objectives across products and technologies
• Identify protectable inventions and oversee patent applications
• Monitor third party patents for infringement risk and validity
• Travel up to 10% of the time
