Job summary

Collins Aerospace seeks a Director of Intellectual Property / USG Data Rights to lead IP engagement, advise senior leaders, and manage patent strategy for key programs. You will collaborate with engineers, counsel, and business teams across the enterprise in a remote-capable role.

Candidates should have a JD, USPTO registration, and 5+ years of IP legal experience, including US Government Data Rights knowledge. Travel up to 10% is required. Citizenship is mandatory for program access.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required to access information under this program/contract.
• Juris doctor degree and bar admission required.
• Typically requires a university degree with 14+ years of relevant IP experience (or advanced degree with 12+ years).
• 5+ years of IP legal experience and USPTO registration required.
• 5+ years of significant US Government Data Rights experience (e.g., FAR, DFARS, OTA).

Responsibilities

• Drive IP engagement within the business and advise on IP matters.
• Negotiate IP agreements with customers, suppliers, and partners.
• Develop and implement IP strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Identify protectable inventions, assess disclosures, and prosecute patents.
• Monitor third-party patents and address infringement risk before products launch.
• Collaborate with engineers and outside counsel on IP issues.
• Travel up to 10% as required.
