Job summary

Collins Aerospace, a RTX business, is seeking a Director of Intellectual Property / USG Data Rights for a remote role. Lead IP engagement, advise senior management and engineers on patents, trade secrets, trademarks and copyrights, and oversee IP agreements with customers and partners.

You will collaborate with engineering teams to identify protectable inventions, manage patent prosecution, monitor third-party patents, and guide risk assessments.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree and bar admission in at least one US state.
• 5+ years IP legal experience.
• 5+ years US Government Data Rights experience (e.g., FAR, DFARS, OTA).

Responsibilities

• Driving IP engagement within the business.
• Providing effective, concise and timely advice to senior management and engineers on IP matters.
• Negotiating IP agreements and IP aspects of broader agreements with customers and partners.
• Collaborating with clients to develop IP strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Identify protectable inventions, assess disclosures, and prosecute patent applications.
• Monitor third party patents and advise on infringement risks and validity.
