Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Director of Intellectual Property / USG Data Rights for a remote role in the United States. The role focuses on IP strategy, patent and copyright protections, and data-rights programs supporting government and commercial programs.

You will advise senior leadership, collaborate with engineers, and lead IP due diligence, as well as monitor competitor activity and manage related litigation oversight as needed.

Qualifications

• University degree with 14+ years experience or advanced degree with 12+ years experience.
• U.S. citizenship required to access program information.
• Juris Doctor degree.
• Admitted to the Bar in one or more US states.
• 5+ years IP legal experience.
• Registered to practice before the USPTO.
• 5+ years of US Government Data Rights experience (e.g., FAR, DFARS, OTA).

Responsibilities

• Drive IP engagement within the business.
• Provide concise advice to senior management and engineers on IP matters incl. patent, trade secret, trademark and copyright law.
• Negotiate IP agreements and IP aspects of broader agreements with customers, suppliers and partners.
• Collaborate to develop IP strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Identify protectable inventions and assist with patent filings and trade secrets protection.
• Monitor third party patents and address infringement risk and validity.
