MiniMed seeks a Senior Principal IP Counsel to provide strategic IP guidance, lead global IP strategies, and support M&A, litigation, and licensing transactions. You will advise R&D and business teams, manage external counsel, and help monetize the patent portfolio while ensuring alignment with MiniMed’s objectives.

The role emphasizes IP M&A or litigation/freedom-to-operate expertise, collaboration with in-house IP attorneys, and cross-functional impact across Pumps, Sensors, and Algorithms

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a top-tier, nationally accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
• 8+ years of experience as an Attorney in intellectual property law discipline.
• Licensed to practice in at least one US state or the District of Columbia.
• Deep expertise in IP M&A or IP litigation/freedom-to-operate, and experience in IP agreements.

Responsibilities

• Protect MiniMed’s Pipeline and Strengthen MiniMed’s Ability to Compete.
• Execute all aspects of creation and management of intellectual property.
• Interface with R&D and business development teams for IP strategy alignment.
• Advise on IP strategies with MiniMed leadership and across units.
• Lead and support IP due diligence for M&A with solution-focused approach.
• Draft, negotiate, and advise on complex IP agreements (licensing, joint‑development).
• Direct patent searching strategies for patentability and competitive landscape.
• Develop strategic relationships with business leaders to integrate IP into strategy.
