Job summary

MiniMed is seeking a Senior Principal IP Counsel to provide strategic IP counsel across mergers & acquisitions, litigation/freedom-to-operate, and licensing. You will partner with R&D and business leaders to align IP strategies with company goals, manage outside counsel, and drive portfolio monetization and risk management.

You will lead complex IP transactions and disputes, mentor junior lawyers, and help shape MiniMed’s competitive position while working in a hybrid environment across multiple

Qualifications

• J.D. from a top-tier law school with strong academic credentials.
• 8+ years of experience in intellectual property law.
• Licensed to practice in at least one US state or DC.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic IP counsel on M&A, litigation, licensing, and IP agreements.
• Lead and support IP due diligence and risk assessment for portfolio management.
• Coordinate with R&D, business development, and leadership to align IP with corporate strategy.
• Oversee outside counsel, budgets, timelines, and priority IP matters.
• Drive patent searching strategies and monitor competitors' activities.
