Job summary

WHOOP is seeking an experienced iOS Software Engineer to join the Connectivity Software Team in Boston. You will design and implement software that enables WHOOP’s wearable sensors to communicate with the iOS app and cloud, focusing on robust BLE, Wi‑Fi, and other protocols.

You’ll build background services, optimize performance and power efficiency, and collaborate with embedded firmware, mobile, and cloud engineers to keep data flowing reliably across the ecosystem.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional iOS software engineering experience with Swift, iOS system APIs, concurrency, and memory management.
• BS or MS in CS, EE, or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Excellent collaboration and cross-functional problem-solving skills.
• Strong commitment to embracing AI tools in day-to-day tasks with high-quality output.
• Hands-on experience with Swift 6 Concurrency and background task processing for non-UI features.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement iOS components that interface with WHOOP hardware via BLE, Wi-Fi, or other protocols.
• Develop background and system-level iOS services for reliable connectivity and data transfer.
• Leverage Swift and Combine to build reactive pipelines for connectivity and data management.
• Collaborate with embedded firmware, mobile, and cloud engineers to resolve issues across distributed systems.
• Document features and architecture using Jira and Confluence; manage code with GitHub branches.
• Participate in release processes including building the app, signing, testing, and App Store submission.
• Improve performance, power efficiency, and reliability of the connectivity layer.
• Adhere to strong software architectural principles for scalable, maintainable code.
