Job summary

ENGIE North America is seeking a Senior Engineer, Inverters to ensure safe, reliable operation of inverter and PCS systems across utility-scale solar and battery storage assets in the United States. You’ll analyze performance, troubleshoot issues, and drive improvements with Operations, Engineering, and OEM partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent.
  • Minimum five years of engineering experience supporting power conversion equipment, renewable energy assets, or related electrical systems.
  • Strong understanding of inverter, converter and PCS technologies, including DC-to-AC conversion and power semiconductors.
  • Experience troubleshooting, testing, commissioning, operating, or supporting power electronics in utility-scale contexts.
  • Experience investigating performance issues, root-cause analyses, and working with manufacturers on corrective actions.
  • Working knowledge of SCADA and industrial communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3).
  • Familiarity with grid compliance, ERCOT/PJW/MISO/SPP or similar environments and related standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and project management skills.
  • Hybrid in-office work policy; not fully remote; travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor inverter and PCS performance and maintenance data to identify issues and opportunities to improve availability and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot inverter and PCS equipment in partnership with field teams and OEMs to support resolution.
  • Conduct root-cause analyses of failures and alarms; recommend corrective actions to reduce downtime.
  • Review settings and operating strategies to optimize performance while maintaining safety and compliance.
  • Evaluate inverter/PCS technologies for new projects and contribute to design reviews and commissioning.
  • Participate in commissioning activities and operational readiness assessments; document lessons learned.
  • Develop technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and engineering recommendations.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders across Operations and Engineering.
