Job summary

PROENERGY in Houston seeks a Senior Cost Accountant to manage inventory movements and cost accounting, ensuring timely and accurate records. You will monitor ERP and MRO transactional flows, perform spot checks, and report variances for management decision-making.

You will drive process improvements across manufacturing and supply chain, participate in audits, and support month-end close with journal entries and reconciliations. Strong Excel, data analysis, and communication are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or other similar business degree.
5-7 years of accounting, finance or related experience, using financial and operational tools and systems (MRO, ERP), with at least 3-5 years of inventory and cost accounting experience.
Proven experience as an Inventory Cost Accountant or in a similar role.
Understanding of financial and accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial management software, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
Skilled in managing and analyzing large datasets efficiently.
Analytical, with strong attention to detail, and high degree of accuracy.
Knowledge of Cost Accounting, Inventory management processes and tools.
Knowledge of Manufacturing, supply chain and procurement workflows and systems.
US work authorization is a precondition of employment.
Candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

Processing daily inventory transactions in the system.
Monitor inventory movements in the ERP system (GP) and inventory systems (MRO and SalesPad).
Stock count analysis and reporting as needed.
Assist with month end closing activities including journal entries, financial analysis, and reconciliations.
Collaborate with operations to improve inventory control processes.
Conduct process and data audits to ensure control effectiveness.
Monthly balance sheet and weekly inventory reconciliations.
Support process improvements by identifying and reporting risks of errors.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely transaction processing.
Monitor the inventory management system to identify root causes and solutions.
Support cycle counting, quarterly field bank audits and annual physical inventory.
Monitor slow-moving inventory to minimize obsolescence and maximize profitability.
Process journal entries and cost transfers related to inventory.
Assist during audits with documentation for external auditors.
Perform special projects as assigned.
