Job summary

PROENERGY in Houston seeks a Senior Cost Accountant to manage inventory movements and cost accounting, ensuring timely and accurate records. You will monitor ERP and MRO transactional flows, perform spot checks, and report variances for management decision-making.

You will drive process improvements across manufacturing and supply chain, participate in audits, and support month-end close with journal entries and reconciliations. Strong Excel, data analysis, and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or other similar business degree.
• 5-7 years of accounting, finance or related experience, using financial and operational tools and systems (MRO, ERP), with at least 3-5 years of inventory and cost accounting experience.
• Proven experience as an Inventory Cost Accountant or in a similar role.
• Understanding of financial and accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial management software, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
• Skilled in managing and analyzing large datasets efficiently.
• Analytical, with strong attention to detail, and high degree of accuracy.
• Knowledge of Cost Accounting, Inventory management processes and tools.
• Knowledge of Manufacturing, supply chain and procurement workflows and systems.
• US work authorization is a precondition of employment.
• Candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Processing daily inventory transactions in the system.
• Monitor inventory movements in the ERP system (GP) and inventory systems (MRO and SalesPad).
• Stock count analysis and reporting as needed.
• Assist with month end closing activities including journal entries, financial analysis, and reconciliations.
• Collaborate with operations to improve inventory control processes.
• Conduct process and data audits to ensure control effectiveness.
• Monthly balance sheet and weekly inventory reconciliations.
• Support process improvements by identifying and reporting risks of errors.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely transaction processing.
• Monitor the inventory management system to identify root causes and solutions.
• Support cycle counting, quarterly field bank audits and annual physical inventory.
• Monitor slow-moving inventory to minimize obsolescence and maximize profitability.
• Process journal entries and cost transfers related to inventory.
• Assist during audits with documentation for external auditors.
• Perform special projects as assigned.

Position Summary

As Senior Cost Accountant, reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager - Operations, your primary responsibility will be to process all inventory movements in a timely manner to meet Operations deadlines. You will also monitor the existing Inventory processes by analyzing transactions to identify and resolve inventory variances in a timely manner. Additionally, you will identify trends and areas for improvement to enhance inventory management efficiency. In the execution of your duties, you shall be called upon to do routine inventory spot checks and audits, record inventory transactions and create reports for management. The individual will actively participate in the ongoing development, implementation, maintenance and application of the Company’s accounting practices, procedures and standards. This role requires strong interpersonal, presentation, and analytical skills to effectively communicate findings and recommendations.

Position Responsibilities

• Processing daily inventory transactions in the system. Monitor inventory movements in the ERP system (GP) and inventory systems (MRO and SalesPad), track orders, define and investigate problems.
• Stock count analysis and reporting as needed. Report on the count frequency and adjustment values.
• Assist with month end closing activities including journal entries, financial analysis, account reconciliations and preparation of supporting schedules.
• Collaborate with operations team to influence the development and implementation of procedures and processes designed to innovate and improve the overall effectiveness of inventory control, and material movement.
• Conduct process and data audits to ensure control effectiveness and find efficiencies.
• Monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, weekly inventory account reconciliation (system to physical).
• Supports process improvements by identifying and reporting the risk of errors within the inventory control system.
• Collaborate with operations team to ensure data integrity and accuracy when recording material transactions.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate transaction processing.
• Monitor the inventory management system to find the root cause of problems and identify appropriate solutions.
• Support conducting Cycle Counting, quarterly field bank audits and annual Physical Inventory.
• Monitor slow-moving inventory to minimize obsolescence and maximize profitability.
• Process journal entries and work order cost transfers related to inventory transactions.
• Support the accounting team during financial statement audits by preparing necessary documentation and facilitating access to financial records for external auditors.
• Perform special projects and other tasks as assigned by the Senior Accounting Manager - Operations or the Controller, AeroAdvantage and Operations.

Required Qualifications
