Job summary

SmithGroup in San Francisco seeks a Senior Interior Designer to lead design across all project stages, collaborating with clients, contractors, and internal teams. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design or equivalent.
• Experience in Mixed-Use, Hospitality and/or Senior Living.
• Ability to set design direction for junior staff.
• Flexible aesthetic to meet diverse client needs.
• Minimum 10 years of related experience.
• Registration required (Architectural or Interior Design).
• LEED AP preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
• Technical competence from schematic design to construction documents.
• Ability to contribute to an interdisciplinary team.

The San Francisco office of SmithGroup is looking for a Senior Interior Designer to join our team.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design efforts for all stages of a project, including leadership with the client, contractors, and internal team.
• Assist in the management of projects through developing project scope, schedules, job production, quality, and fee management.
• Lead programming, conceptualization, development and integration of strategic design solutions.
• Consult with manufacturers, research and evaluate materials.
• Document architectural drawings.
• Assist in construction administration including responding to RFIs, preparing sketches and addenda, and visiting the construction site to gather information and/or prepare a punch list.
• Oversee the design work of others to ensure integrated and cohesive design, supervise preparation of drawings for all project phases, and ensure guidelines, quality control, standards and details.
• Lead all phases of the design process including programming and developing workplace standards.
• Mentor junior staff and participate in performance coaching.
• Participate in recruitment and interviewing process as requested.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design or equivalent.
• Experience working in Mixed‑Use, Hospitality and/or Senior Living.
• The ability to set design direction for junior staff.
• A varied and flexible aesthetic that meets diverse client needs.
• Minimum 10 years of related experience.
• Architectural or Interior Design registration required.
• LEED AP preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
• Technical competence and proven experience in schematic design through construction documents.
• The ability to contribute and participate in an interdisciplinary team environment.
