Job summary

CannonDesign in Houston, TX is seeking an intermediate Interior Designer to join a multi-disciplinary team. Under senior leadership you’ll guide goals through programming, schematic design, development, and construction administration, with emphasis on furniture planning and design.

You’ll evaluate client needs, coordinate FFE, produce drawings within time and budget, mentor junior staff, participate in meetings, and support marketing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of related experience.
• Strong furniture planning, specification, and procurement experience.
• A strong furniture/interior design portfolio demonstrating planning and implementation.
• Current NCIDQ certification is preferred.
• Must be design focused, independent thinker and analytical.
• Strong communication, teamwork, presentation and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead project goals through Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Administration.
• Evaluate client needs and document design objectives and spatial requirements with focus on furniture planning.
• Research, evaluate and coordinate furniture, fixtures and equipment across all phases.
• Coordinate design work and code compliance within the team; collaborate with architecture, engineering and consultants.
• Develop interior design concepts including floor plans, elevations, details and finishes.
• Independently select materials and consult with vendors; produce drawings within time, budget and quality constraints.
• Assist in project planning, budgeting and client meetings; mentor junior staff and lead lessons learned sessions.
• Participate in construction administration activities including site visits and submittal reviews.
