Job summary

Sharp Decisions seeks a Senior Systems Support Engineer to install, qualify, maintain, and repair client instruments and software at Pleasanton and Santa Clara sites, with a strong emphasis on network infrastructure and FortiGate configurations.

The role requires diagnosing hardware, software, and network issues, performing root cause analyses, and delivering high-quality customer support across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Required: Associate’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology with a networking focus or equivalent.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
• 5+ years of experience servicing medical/laboratory equipment and/or supporting networked systems in an R&D, hospital, or clinical laboratory setting.
• Hands-on experience with networking fundamentals including IP addressing/subnetting, VLANs, switches, routers, and firewalls.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and IOQs on instruments and systems.
• Troubleshoot, replace parts, and repair instruments; relocate instruments as needed.
• Establish, maintain, and troubleshoot network connections for remote access to instruments.
• Map IP addresses and manage VLANs, switches, and firewall devices to ensure secure connectivity.
• Document all service activities and coordinate requests via ServiceNow; communicate status updates.
