Candidates should have a degree in Medical Record Sciences or relevant RHIT/RHIA/ CCS/CCA certifications; RHIT/RHIA eligibility within six months of hire is required. Prior coding experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in Medical Record Sciences preferred or RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CCA certification.
• Certification eligibility must be obtained within six months if RHIT/RHIA.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and coding systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify diagnostic and operative data from patient records for coding and reimbursement.
• Assign codes using encoder software following coding guidelines.
• Determine principal and secondary diagnoses for MS-DRG reimbursement.
• Verify completeness of medical records and report discrepancies.
• Complete discharge abstracts from coded data and records.
• Adhere to Remote Coding Program Policy if applicable and maintain regulatory compliance.
