Job summary

DaMar Staffing is seeking a Medical Coder to review patient records, assign codes, and support reimbursement and research databases. You will ensure data accuracy, adherence to coding guidelines, and compliance with regulations.

The role requires RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CCA certification or progress toward certification, with strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and pharmacology. Experience with encoder software and MS-DRG is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes, medical terminology, pharmacology, and coding systems.
• Experience with encoder software and MS-DRG reimbursement guidelines.
• Familiarity with Federal, State, and local coding regulations and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

• Identifies all diagnostic and operative procedures and other patient stay data for databases and MS-DRG reimbursement.
• Assigns diagnostic and procedural codes using established guidelines.
• Sequences principal and secondary diagnoses per MS-DRG rules.
• Verifies completeness of medical records in the EMR and reports discrepancies.
• Completes discharge abstracts with coded data and stay details.
• Adheres to Remote Coding Program Policy if applicable.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable laws and ethical standards.
