Job summary

Orlando Health, Inc. is seeking an experienced health information coder to manage multifacility inpatient coding across our system. You will assign diagnoses and procedures, query physicians for clarity, and ensure accurate DRG assignment in collaboration with coding leadership.

The role requires ICD-10-CM/PCS expertise, EPIC EMR proficiency, and adherence to AHIMA/AAPC standards. Strong attention to detail and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in Health Information Management required or
• Completion of coding certificate program required
• Computer literacy required
• Medical terminology, anatomy and physiology required
• Score of 90% or better on Orlando Health Sr. level coding skills test required

Responsibilities

• Perform high level review and analysis of clinical documentation and accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes for multifacility all levels of inpatient visits using ICD-10-CM/PCS classification systems, utilizing EPIC EMR, encoder, CAC, and other applications as applicable.
• Sequence principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures for MS and APR-DRG assignment per guidelines and CMS rules.
• Query physicians to clarify documentation discrepancies for additional diagnoses or procedures.
• Abstract information into hospital information systems and complete concurrent reviews for documentation enhancement and interim billing.
• Collaborate with CDE, Quality Management and other departments for accurate DRG assignment and compliance.
