Job summary

Orlando Health, Inc. is seeking a Coding Specialist to review clinical documentation and assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes for multifacility Same Day Surgery and Outpatient Observation visits using EPIC EMR and CAC tools.

You will ensure proper APC classification, communicate with physicians and care teams, maintain high accuracy, and support revenue integrity across coding teams. A strong knowledge of coding guidelines and CMS rules is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate's degree; coding certificate program required.
• Licensure/Certification: CCS/CCA or CPC or COC or RHIA/RHIT; renewals every 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Review and assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes for multifacility Same Day Surgery and Outpatient Observation visits using EPIC EMR and CAC tools.
• Appropriately sequence diagnoses and CPT-4 codes for APC assignment per Official Guidelines and CMS.
• Communicate with physicians, office personnel, guests, patients, and healthcare team members; demonstrate strong verbal communication.
• Ensure medical necessity coverage by reviewing provider documentation and accurate ICD-10-CM code assignment.
• Assign CPT-4 modifiers and clear NCCI edits and coding validation errors at the time of coding.
• Abstract information into hospital information system and request additional documentation as needed for accuracy.
• Query physicians for documentation clarification; collaborate with revenue management to resolve account issues.
• Work with coding teams to meet department productivity goals and participate in QA studies.
