Job summary

UCSF Health is seeking a Health Information Coder III for a temporary 3-month assignment with potential extension. This senior inpatient coder will apply ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines to code inpatient cases for accurate billing and reporting in a remote setting.

The role requires 10+ years of DRG coding experience, certification (CCS/CIC/RHIT/RHIA), and a high level of accuracy and productivity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• CCS, CIC, RHIT, or RHIA certification is required.
• 10+ years of inpatient DRG coding and abstracting experience.
• Must pass pre-hire coding test with 80%+ accuracy.
• Ability to meet daily production and maintain 95% accuracy.
• Advanced proficiency with EHR and encoder systems.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT coding systems.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient DRG using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Ensure coding complies with official guidelines and privacy rules.
• Maintain high accuracy and meet daily production targets.
• Collaborate with clinical and coding teams to ensure data quality.
