Job summary

UCSF is seeking a Medical Coder to support Faculty Practice Revenue Management Operations. The role reviews patient records and assigns CPT/ICD-10-CM codes to ensure accurate reimbursement and data integrity.

Remote, 3-month contract with potential extension; full-time day shift, collaborating with clinicians and coders. Requirements include Epic/APeX experience, CPT/ICD-10-CM/HCPCS knowledge, and CPC/CCS/CCS or equivalent licensure.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of professional fee/revenue cycle coding experience.
• Hands-on coding experience in CPT/ICD-10-CM.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and payer coding standards.
• Certification/licensure: CPC/CCS-P/CCA/CCS/RHIT/RHIA or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Work in moderate work queues daily as defined by UCSF Leadership.
• Maintain or exceed a 95% accuracy rate in coding.
• Code intermediate procedures requiring advanced knowledge in charge capture and revenue cycle.
• Resolve edits to ensure correct coding of services and verify documentation for E/M levels.
• Apply dashboards and perform analyses of revenue cycle functions.
• Reconcile charge lists and support data integrity through audits.
