Job summary

Selective Insurance is seeking an experienced underwriting professional to serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert. You will develop and maintain underwriting guidelines, support authority decisions, and build training content for regional staff.

You will also handle referrals for large or complex accounts and contribute to portfolio performance improvements. In this role, you will collaborate with the LOB Practices Manager and VP to ensure guidelines align with profitability

Responsibilities

• Guideline creation and maintenance for underwriting guidelines and authority.
• Support authority framework and provide analysis to balance growth with risk.
• Create LOB-specific training curricula and technical content.
• Handle underwriting referrals and provide guidance on complex accounts.
• Support portfolio analysis, profitability reviews, and strategic opportunities.
• Research and analyze coverage issues and exposures for guideline updates.
• Assist with vendor tools deployment and governance.
• Support compliance topics with the LOB team.
• Participate in QA and Large Loss Review processes.
• Provide exceptional customer service to agents and stakeholders.
