Job summary

Selective Insurance is seeking an experienced Underwriting Practices expert to support LOB guidelines and training across casualty and property lines. The role focuses on developing guidelines, maintaining authority frameworks, and providing technical guidance to regional underwriters.

You will analyze coverage questions, assist in portfolio performance reviews, and collaborate with the VP and Practices team to ensure compliant, profitable growth.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates underwriting expertise and knowledge of LOB coverages, exposures, and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain underwriting guidelines and documentation.
• Support authority framework documentation and reviews.
• Develop LOB-specific training content for regional staff.
• Handle underwriting referrals and provide guidance on complex accounts.
• Analyze portfolio performance and identify profitability improvement opportunities.
• Research coverages and exposures to inform guideline decisions.
• Support deployment and management of vendor tools and resources.
• Assist on compliance topics with supporting analyses.
• Participate in QA and Large Loss reviews as needed.
• Provide excellent service to agents and stakeholders.
