Job summary

Selective Insurance seeks a senior underwriting professional to lead guidelines development and support the authority framework across casualty/property lines. You will analyze coverages, train regional teams, and advise on complex accounts, balancing profitability with risk controls.

Collaborating with the LOB Practices Manager and VP, you will drive quality, compliance, and performance improvements, while supporting vendor tools and cross-functional initiatives within a national footprint.

Qualifications

• Underwriting knowledge of LOB coverages, exposures, and guidelines.
• Ability to develop, interpret, and apply underwriting standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication; adaptable to change.
• Balances strategic thinking with attention to detail using data for decisions.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and update underwriting guidelines and documentation.
• Support the authority delegation framework and adjust as needed.
• Develop LOB-specific training content for regional staff.
• Handle underwriting referrals and advise on complex accounts.
• Analyze portfolio performance and identify profitability opportunities.
• Research coverage questions and exposures to inform guidelines.
• Support deployment of LOB tools and vendor resources.
• Assist on regulatory compliance topics as needed.
• Participate in QA and Large Loss reviews.
• Provide exceptional service to agents and stakeholders.
