Job summary

Selective Insurance seeks an experienced underwriting professional to serve as a subject matter expert for underwriting practices across lines of business. You will develop guidelines, maintain authority frameworks, and create training content to ensure regional personnel understand underwriting rules and controls.

You will handle referrals, perform portfolio analysis, and research coverage issues while supporting vendor tools and compliance initiatives.

• Underwriting expertise with knowledge of LOB-specific coverages, exposures, and guidelines.
• Balances strategic thinking with attention to detail using data, judgment, and diverse perspectives.
• Builds productive relationships with internal and external partners while managing multiple priorities and workflows.
• Strong written and verbal communication; adapts to change; proficient with underwriting, desktop, and communication tools.

Responsibilities

• Assists in developing, documenting, and maintaining underwriting guidelines; updates guidance as needed.
• Supports documentation and maintenance of the authority delegation framework; analyzes and recommends adjustments.
• Creates LOB-specific training curricula and technical content for regional personnel.
• Handles underwriting referrals, providing guidance on large, unique, and complex accounts.
• Provides portfolio analysis and trend identification to support profitability improvement.
• Develops knowledge of products and coverages by analyzing forms, applications, and guidelines.
• Supports deployment and management of vendor tools for LOB-specific resources.
• Assists with regulatory compliance discussions and QA/large loss reviews.
• Provides stakeholder cross-functional support on analytical projects.
