Job summary

OneMain Financial in Utah is seeking a seasoned Platform Engineer to own production reliability for OneMain Auto systems, driving modernization and observability. You will collaborate across application development, network, database, security, IAM, platform, cloud, and enterprise operations teams.

You will participate in on-call rotations, implement IaC, CI/CD pipelines, and automation to reduce toil while supporting high-availability, compliant production environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in production operations, site reliability engineering, systems/application support, or a closely related technical role.
• Strong hands-on experience supporting Windows Server in production environments.
• Strong working knowledge of IIS administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and application hosting.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server from a production support and application operations perspective.
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
• Experience supporting Microsoft Azure environments with an emphasis on IaaS workloads.
• Strong understanding of network fundamentals, DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancing, TLS/certificates, and cloud connectivity sufficient to troubleshoot cross-system dependencies.
• Demonstrated ability to perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis across complex, multi-tier systems.
• Experience working with external vendors or technology partners on high-severity technical escalations.
• Ability to coordinate work across multiple enterprise technology teams in a cloud-first environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced Level 3 production support for business-critical OneMain Auto applications and supporting technology components.
• Troubleshoot complex application-hosting and system issues across Windows Server, IIS, SQL Server, Azure IaaS, authentication, connectivity, and dependent services.
• Build, configure, maintain, and improve the operating components used by OneMain Auto applications within approved enterprise standards.
• Serve as the Level 4 technical escalation point for external partners, vendors, and third-party service providers; coordinate complex technical investigations through resolution.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions that improve long-term reliability and reduce recurring production issues.
• Partner with OneMain incident response teams as the technical subject matter expert for the supported systems without owning incident command or coordination.
• Improve observability through monitoring, logging, alerting, health checks, and operational telemetry.
• Identify and reduce operational toil through PowerShell and other approved automation methods.
• Support deployments, configuration changes, patching, maintenance activities, and production readiness for OneMain Auto systems.
• Maintain strong working knowledge of network dependencies and cloud networking concepts and coordinate with dedicated network teams when changes or troubleshooting are required.
• Collaborate across application development, network, database, security, IAM, platform, cloud, and enterprise operations teams.
• Participate in an on-call rotation supporting production systems.
• Develop reusable configurations, scripts, deployment patterns, and operational tooling that improve consistency and reliability.
• Contribute to standardization efforts that reduce configuration drift across environments.
• Support Infrastructure as Code practices where appropriate for repeatable provisioning and configuration.
• Contribute to modernization initiatives, including migration of suitable workloads toward containerized or managed runtime platforms.
• Partner with platform engineering teams to improve the operability, resilience, and lifecycle management of OneMain Auto workloads.
