Job summary

Commerce seeks a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, automate, and operate infra across on‑prem data centers and cloud (GCP/AWS). You will lead automation, implement IaC (Terraform, Puppet, Ansible), and mentor engineers while shaping scale for global operations.

You will manage Linux systems, networking, storage, and monitoring, partnering with teams to evolve our infrastructure modernisation and governance. Hybrid work in Austin area.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in infrastructure or systems engineering with production ownership.
• Experience with remote management of phys infra colocated at hosting facilities.
• Deep Linux systems administration at scale.
• Hands-on networking experience: DNS, load balancing, traffic management.
• Experience automating infra with Terraform, Puppet, Ansible.
• Proficiency in Python for infra tooling and automation.
• GCP experience (Compute Engine, networking, storage, IAM).
• Ability to lead infra projects and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate large-scale, multi data center infra across on-prem, GCP, and AWS.
• Lead automation of infra deployment and configuration management (IaC).
• Design and maintain traffic management, load balancing, and DNS systems.
• Build and operate monitoring and observability across on‑prem and cloud.
• Develop tooling for distributed, auditable systems administration.
• Write and maintain infra process, policy, and procedural docs.
