Job summary

Maverick Technology Partners is seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer for a remote contract-to-perm role serving diverse customers. The position emphasizes project delivery, new environment builds, troubleshooting, and virtualization migrations with VMware, Hyper-V, or Nutanix.

The role requires hands-on migration experience, strong AD/domain knowledge, and solid networking skills. Local candidates to MA, NH, RI, or CT are preferred; after-hours support may be required.

Qualifications

• About 10 years of infrastructure engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience building and migrating environments from scratch.
• Virtualization migration experience (VMware, Hyper-V, and/or Nutanix).
• Strong Active Directory and domain controller knowledge, plus understanding dependencies during migrations.
• Working networking knowledge (top‑of‑rack switching, SAN/storage, and server connectivity).
• Able to recognize when to upscale or bring in a specialist (e.g., network engineer).
• Project-based background at a VAR, IT engineering/solutions firm, or as a migration contractor across multiple clients.
• Comfortable with occasional after-hours or weekend cutovers.
• US work authorization, no sponsorship.
• Able to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Deliver infrastructure projects for hundreds of customers on a professional services team.
• Provide design input, build new environments, troubleshoot, perform hardware upgrades, and handle virtualization migrations.
• Lead project delivery rather than ongoing environment maintenance.
• Support contract-to-hire or direct hire arrangements and remote work arrangements.
• Work a typical 8–5 schedule with occasional after-hours cutovers.

• Senior Infrastructure Engineer on a professional services team that delivers infrastructure projects for hundreds of customers
• Work includes design input, new environment builds, troubleshooting, hardware rip-and-replace, and virtualization migrations (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
• Project delivery role, not ongoing environment maintenance
• Contract-to-hire or direct hire; remote
• 8–5 schedule with occasional after‑hours cutovers

Must Haves:

• Strong experience level, roughly 10 years in infrastructure engineering
• Hands‑on experience building and migrating infrastructure environments from scratch (implementation and migration, not just administration)
• Virtualization migration experience (VMware, Hyper‑V, and/or Nutanix)
• Strong Active Directory and domain controller knowledge, plus experience in mapping application and service dependencies during migrations
• Working networking knowledge (top‑of‑rack switching, SAN/storage, and server connectivity)
• Able to recognize when to upscale or pull in a specialist (e.g., network engineer)
• Project‑based background at a VAR, IT engineering or solutions firm, or as an implementation contractor across multiple clients
