Job summary

The City of Phoenix Water Services Department seeks an experienced Application Programming Section Supervisor to support regulatory and compliance systems (iPACS, SAMS, LIMS, HARS) and the PCTS Data and Applications Team. You will evaluate solutions, set priorities, supervise staff, and translate complex technical concepts for customers while working onsite on a closed network.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as an Information Technology Systems Specialist involving database management and on-line telecommunications.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, or a related field.
• Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
• Finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check.
• Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business; valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate application solutions to meet departmental needs in scope, functionality, effectiveness, robustness, security, and efficiency.
• Set the team's priorities and assign work.
• Perform supervisory duties such as goal setting, direction, feedback, training and mentoring, and performance communications.
• Write PMG evaluations and review with staff.
• Hold regular team meetings to communicate management information and priorities.
• Decide what software tools to purchase and manage licenses.
• Translate complex technical and business concepts for customers and other technical personnel.
• Evaluate project requirements and make recommendations for informed decisions.
• Excellent writing skills are required for this position.
