Job summary

Office of the Illinois Secretary of State in Springfield, IL seeks an Information Systems Advisor II - Data & Operations Support to lead enterprise data operations, oversee pipelines, ETL workflows, and ensure reliable, secure processing in line with NIST standards.

The role supervises data engineers and ETL staff, collaborates across divisions, manages incidents, and drives modernization with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and Microsoft Purview.

Qualifications

• Two years of college in CS and 4.5 years of tech experience with at least 1 year in supervision.
• Experience leading data operations, ETL/ELT workflows, and data pipelines.
• Knowledge of NIST-aligned security controls and data governance practices.
• Strong communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
• Willingness to travel and holding a valid Illinois driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction for enterprise data operations, including ingestion pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, scheduling, monitoring, and failure recovery.
• Supervise data operations engineers, ETL specialists, and support personnel; assign work and review deliverables.
• Ensure security, compliance, audits, and data governance; coordinate with cybersecurity teams.
• Coordinate with Data Governance, Analytics, App Development, and Infrastructure teams for integrated workflows.
• Establish KPIs for pipeline uptime, latency, and data freshness; drive automation and tooling modernization.
