Job summary

NextGen Healthcare seeks a Sr. Specialist I, Information Operations to lead field engineering, system availability, and network operations across our regional healthcare client network in the Bethesda/Rockville area. The role requires on-site work, travel to Northern Virginia, hands-on firewall and VPN expertise, and the ability to coordinate with vendors to resolve complex outages while maintaining enterprise security and reliability.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or software engineering or equivalent experience.
4–6 years’ experience with firewall systems (Cisco ASA, Checkpoint, or Palo Alto).
Experience with LAN/WAN networking, VPNs, and network security protocols.
Familiarity with network monitoring and documentation tools.

Responsibilities

Manage routers, switches, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, and backup devices; design IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, security, LAN/WAN, and disaster recovery.
Provide remote/on-site support and diagnose LAN/WAN issues to resolve problems quickly.
Design, architect, and maintain the corporate LAN, WAN, and security systems to minimize downtime.
Ensure day-to-day operation, reliability, and integrity of the enterprise network and related equipment.
Create and maintain network configuration and service documentation.
Coordinate and perform in-depth tests for modified/new systems; monitor performance and generate reports.
Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.
