Job summary

Polaris Inc. in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to oversee preventive maintenance of buildings and critical systems, including HVAC, electrical, fire and security alarms, and building automation.

You will read blueprints and schematics, diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform repairs, keep thorough maintenance records, and ensure compliance with safety codes; shift flexibility and teamwork are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years in the manufacturing industry.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Working knowledge of electrical codes and regulations.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical problems.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces.
• Motivated self-starter who can manage projects and make decisions.
• Proficiency in using electrical tools, testing equipment, and hand tools.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols.
• Flexibility to work in shifts and respond to emergency situations.
• Physical stamina and ability to work in confined spaces or at elevated heights.

Responsibilities

• Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems.
• Maintain, operate all HVAC systems and associated equipment, and monitor the building automation system.
• Perform general maintenance and other manual repairs as needed.
• Perform facility inspections and complete/submit associated Work Orders.
• Monitor and repair compressed air system as needed.
• Follow safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams for installation and repairs.
