Job summary

6 Degrees Search is seeking a Lead Industrial Maintenance Technician for a fast-growing food processing operation in Blue Island, IL on-site. Pay ranges from $40.00 to $65.00/hour, with a 1st or 2nd shift and a comprehensive benefits package.

You will lead hands-on maintenance across a three-shift plant, diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues, weld when needed, install equipment, and ensure safety and OSHA/LOTO compliance.

Qualifications

• Electrical experience with 480V three-phase systems is required.
• Mechanical troubleshooting in an industrial plant; food/chemical environments preferred.
• MIG and stick welding preferred.
• SCADA, PLC, or VFD exposure is a plus.
• CMMS experience preferred.
• OSHA and LOTO knowledge required.
• Comfortable working in a hot, non‑air‑conditioned environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain mechanical and electrical systems across a three‑shift plant.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues, including 480V equipment.
• Weld (MIG and stick), fabricate, and rig as needed.
• Install, align, and service pumps, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, tanks.
• Use SCADA, PLCs, VFDs, sensors to locate faults.
• Complete PMs in the CMMS and keep records updated.
• Follow LOTO, confined space, hot work, and OSHA rules.
• Assist maintenance manager with planning and prioritizing work.
• Be the on‑call person for breakdowns.
