Job summary

Moderna is seeking a Sr. Research Associate to join the Infectious Disease Research Immunology team.

You will design, execute, and optimize antibody binding assays across ELISA, Luminex, MSD and Octet, and support epitope mapping and antibody characterization in collaboration with cross-functional teams. The role focuses on humoral responses in preclinical through IND-enabling studies, contributing to assay development and data interpretation to inform vaccine strategies.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in immunology, microbiology, vaccinology or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience.
Hands-on experience with ligand binding assays and designing/executing assays with increasing independence.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to evolving scientific and programmatic needs.
This site-based role requires working at Moderna’s site full-time without remote work.

Responsibilities

Execute and optimize antibody binding assays across platforms (ELISA, Luminex, MSD, Octet).
Design, develop and perform competitive and capture ligand binding assays.
Conduct functional serological assays including blockade and enzyme inhibition.
Perform epitope-specific enrichment and depletion studies.
Maintain mammalian cell cultures and develop cell-based assays.
Analyze data using GraphPad Prism and interpret results for project decisions.
Maintain records in electronic lab notebooks and contribute to SOPs.
Prepare data-driven presentations and present findings at team meetings.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage multiple experiments.
Support automation and AI-enabled workflows where applicable.
