Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. in the United States seeks a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer - Network to help partner across software development, operations, and network infrastructure teams, delivering reliable, scalable networking for Akamai Connected Cloud.

You will define SLOs, build automation pipelines, mentor teammates, and contribute to architectural decisions. The candidate should have 8+ years in SRE/Network/DevOps, with Linux networking and modern config management and CI/CD tools.

Qualifications

8+ years of experience in Site Reliability/Network/DevOps roles with large-scale distributed systems.
Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet or similar.
Experience with Linux networking at the userspace level and open source networking software (FRR, Bird, goBGP).
Understanding of TCP/IP, OSI model, and Cisco/Juniper routers and switches.
Experience developing applications, contributing to codebases, code reviews, and scripting (Python, Bash, Go).
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD or similar.

Responsibilities

Partner across teams to ensure reliability, scalability, and usability of network infrastructure, products, and services.
Define requirements as part of the product lifecycle to influence designs and standards.
Develop automation pipelines to support development, testing, and deployment workflows.
Define SLOs for network infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.
Collaborate with Dev and QA teams to improve code quality and stability.
Mentor team members and provide architectural leadership.
