Job summary

Cisco's Identity Engineering organization is seeking an experienced engineer to define the authentication and federation foundation of Cisco’s identity platform. You will own the core SSO and identity-broker architecture, guiding security, scalability, and long-term evolution across diverse systems.

You will collaborate with product and platform teams, mentor others, and apply AI-assisted development practices to improve quality and maintainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related experience, or higher degrees with adjusted years.
• Experience providing technical leadership for distributed systems, microservices, or enterprise cloud services.
• Professional experience building backend services and APIs using Python, including async patterns.
• Experience designing or building identity, authentication, authorization, or security capabilities.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools to deliver secure, correct software.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and technical direction for core SSO and identity-broker capabilities.
• Lead design and development of secure, scalable SSO services and identity orchestration via Python.
• Translate business needs into specifications, architecture decisions, and execution plans.
• Establish AI-assisted development practices ensuring security and quality.
• Serve as a technical bridge among engineering, product, and platform teams.
• Provide mentorship and raise engineering standards through reviews.
