Memorial Hospital at Gulfport is hiring a Coder III to perform inpatient ICD coding for billing, case mix, and data collection, and to assign DRGs. You will review charts retrospectively, resolve coding errors, and maintain data integrity across hospital systems.

The role requires CPC and/or CPC-H, CCS, RHIT, or RHIA certification, and at least 4 years of hospital coding experience. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• Certification CPC and/or CPC-H, CCS, RHIT, RHIA.
• 4 years as a medical coder in a hospital setting.
• Strong data analysis and documentation skills.

Responsabilités

• Assign ICD codes to inpatient diagnoses and procedures.
• Assess the accuracy and completeness of documentation.
• Assign codes to diagnosis, procedures and treatments per classification rules.
• Assign Diagnostic Related Groups (DRGs) to inpatient encounters.
• Query physicians when additional information is needed to code.
• Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with guidelines.
