Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking an experienced Inpatient Coding Specialist. You will review inpatient medical records, assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and DRGs, and ensure accuracy for reimbursement and regulatory compliance. Strong knowledge of anatomy, terminology, and coding guidelines is essential.

Minimum 5 years of inpatient coding experience, with AHIMA or AAPC certification preferred. The role requires collaboration with physicians and the coding team to maintain high-quality coding

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of inpatient hospital coding experience required.
• AHIMA or AAPC coding certifications (RHIT/RHIA/CCA/CCS/CIC) required.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology and surgical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records to identify diagnoses/procedures for inpatient coding.
• Assign ICD-10 codes and DRGs for inpatient records for reimbursement and compliance.
• Query physicians when documentation is unclear for coding.
• Maintain high accuracy in ICD-10/DRG assignments and productivity.
