Job summary

FNTS, a First National Technology Solutions division, seeks a Sr. IBM iSeries Engineer to maintain IBM i environments and solve technical problems in a remote, nationwide capacity.

The role focuses on planning migrations, backups, and software replication while supporting break/fix activities and project work. You will join a managed services engineering team that collaborates with customers to extend environments and implement new OS capabilities, including Live Partition Mobility and related

Qualifications

• IBM iSeries system administration with 10+ years experience.
• Knowledge of i/OS from V5R4 to V7R3 and POWER hardware.
• Experience with LPARs, storage (JBOD/RAID/SAN) and tape libraries.
• Experience TCP/IP in IPv4 environments; IPv6 desired.
• Experience with MIMIX, iTera or PowerHA for replication.
• Familiarity with OS upgrades, PTF deployment, and Image Catalog.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents and requests with in-depth analysis.
• Maintain IBM i environments and plan migrations via tape save/restore or replication.
• Configure backups, DR testing, OS upgrades and PTF deployments.
• Develop and maintain system documentation and templates.
• Collaborate with customers during migrations to FNTS remote management.
• Support automation and monitoring tools for proactive operations.
• Serve as IBM i SME on technical infrastructure projects.
