Softthink Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced IBM DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to administer, optimize, and secure enterprise DB2 environments remotely for a large manufacturing organization.

- 10+ years of hands-on IBM DB2 DBA experience.
- Strong experience with DB2 LUW administration.
- Strong SQL skills.
- Strong experience with database performance tuning.
- Experience with DB2 backup and recovery.
- Experience with high availability and disaster recovery.
- Experience with database security, access control, and auditing.
- Strong Linux/Unix skills.
- Experience supporting large enterprise production databases.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis capabilities.
- Experience with database monitoring and performance-management tools.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, administer, patch, upgrade, and maintain IBM DB2 databases.
- Monitor database health, availability, performance, capacity, and resource utilization.
- Perform database and SQL performance tuning.
- Analyze SQL execution plans and identify performance bottlenecks.
- Optimize tables, indexes, queries, memory, storage, and database configurations.
- Implement and manage database backup and recovery procedures.
- Perform database restoration and recovery when required.
- Design and maintain high-availability and disaster-recovery configurations.
- Perform database capacity planning and storage management.
- Manage database users, roles, privileges, and access controls.
- Implement database security, encryption, and auditing requirements.
- Monitor database logs, jobs, utilities, and scheduled processes.
- Troubleshoot database failures, locking, deadlocks, connectivity, and performance issues.
- Perform root-cause analysis of production database incidents.
- Support database migrations, upgrades, refreshes, and environment cloning.
- Develop scripts and utilities to automate routine DBA activities.
- Support application releases and production deployments from a database perspective.
- Maintain database configuration documentation, SOPs, recovery procedures, and operational runbooks.
- Participate in production incident, change, and problem-management processes.
