Job summary

Dhaka Technologies Limited is seeking an IBM DB2 Database Administrator to manage, configure, and maintain databases on mainframe platforms. The role supports a mission-critical Motor Vehicle Information System with requirements for availability, performance, data integrity, and modernization.

You will perform installations, upgrades, patches, migrations, backups, recovery, and DR strategies, ensuring high availability and efficient data operations across DB2 environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 16 years of experience in database design, documentation, and coding.
• Minimum 16 years of SQL experience.
• Minimum 16 years of designing and implementing reports and report interfaces.
• Minimum 16 years of hands-on experience with IBM DB2 (LUW or z/OS).
• Minimum 10 years of knowledge of high-availability technologies including HADR, replication, failover, and clustering.
• Minimum 10 years of familiarity with ETL, data mining, data storage, and data warehousing.

Responsibilities

• Support the application team by optimizing database queries, stored procedures, packages, and triggers.
• Work with developers to integrate enhancements, fixes, and new functionalities aligned with business needs.
• Ensure releases and data model changes are synchronized with database environments.
• Maintain data integrity through data validation and referential integrity.
• Enforce database security standards, user access controls, and audit requirements.
• Support privacy and data protection compliance for personal information.
• Use DB2 monitoring tools to identify performance bottlenecks.
• Analyze SQL performance and query plans and suggest optimizations.
• Tune databases, memory, indexes, and storage for throughput.
• Coordinate with infrastructure teams on server performance, storage, and network connectivity.
• Provide knowledge and support to client personnel and stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Coordinate activities of application developers as needed.
• Identify best practices and standards for product use.
• Deliver support and design for industry-specific applications.
• Interact with executive-level business users or technical experts.
• Function as niche technical SME as needed.
