Job summary

Maximus is seeking a part-time Senior IBM COBOL Developer to support the IRS client. This is a remote position with an active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI) required.

Key duties include COBOL development, documentation updates, unit testing, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Candidates should have extensive COBOL DB2/CICS experience and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher required; 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI) required.
• Minimum 4 years with IBM COBOL programming language.
• Experience with DB2 and related utilities.
• Experience with CICS; strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Create, update, unit test, and maintain IBM COBOL programs.
• Update documentation (FSPs/PRPs/Visio diagrams) as needed.
• Track requirements and execute unit test cases.
• Review documentation (IRMs, ICDs, UWRs) and provide input.
• Rewrite programs to improve efficiency and adapt to new requirements.
• Provide guidance to teammates and collaborate with managers.
