Job summary

Maximus is seeking a PART TIME Senior IBM COBOL Developer to support our IRS client. This remote role requires an active IRS MBI and a strong COBOL background.

You will design and maintain COBOL programs, update technical documentation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliant, efficient system changes. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience with IBM COBOL, DB2, CICS, and strong communication skills, with the ability to work independently or in a team

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 5+ years of professional experience.
• Active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI) required.
• 4+ years of IBM COBOL programming experience.
• Experience with DB2 and IBM DB2 utilities.
• Experience with CICS.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Create, update, unit test, and maintain IBM COBOL programs.
• Update documentation such as FSPs/PRPs and Visio diagrams.
• Track requirements and execute unit tests.
• Review documentation like UWRs, IRMs, ICDs, COHs.
• Rewrite programs using workflow charts and logic.
• Revise or expand existing programs for efficiency.
• Consult with management and engineering staff to clarify intent.
• Perform systems analysis and programming tasks for system control.
