Job summary

Maximus is seeking a Senior IBM COBOL Developer to support our IRS client. This is a remote, PART TIME position with an active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI) required.

You will create, update, unit test, and maintain IBM COBOL programs, update documentation, and coordinate with managers and technical staff to ensure compliant, efficient processing and timely deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 5+ years of experience or equivalent.
• Active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI) required.
• Experience with IBM COBOL, DB2, CICS, SQL, JCL, and batch processing.

Responsibilities

• Create, update, unit test, and maintain IBM COBOL programs.
• Update Functional Specification Packages and related docs.
• Track requirements and execute unit tests.
• Review documentation such as UWRs and IRMs and provide comments.
• Rewrite programs with workflow charts and symbolic logic.
• Collaborate with managers and technical staff to clarify intent.
• Maintain system analysis and programming tasks for software control.
