Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking a Master I&C Technician responsible for operating and maintaining power plant systems in Chambersburg, PA. You will follow established procedures with minimal supervision and aim for safe, cost-effective performance and reliability.

Responsibilities include startup/shutdown, equipment operation, tests, logs, and coordination with supervision. The role requires strong technical knowledge, safety discipline, and teamwork across plant personnel.

Qualifications

• Must have basic math skills and good verbal communication.
• Ability to work cooperatively and without direct supervision.
• Familiarity with safety practices in power plant operations.
• Experience with data entry and instrumentation controls preferable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in start-up, shut-down and normal operations of power plant systems.
• Operate major auxiliary equipment such as air and gas compressors, chillers and cooling systems.
• Perform tests, inspections and make repairs to achieve proper operating conditions.
• Prepare and oversee LOTO packages.
• Conduct water chemistry analysis and operate emissions monitoring equipment.
• Maintain plant logs and all instrument, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Report abnormal conditions and take corrective actions.
• Perform other tasks as required by Operations and Maintenance Manager.
