Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking an Outside Operator at Ironwood Generating Station in Lebanon, PA. The role involves operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting a 2x1 combined cycle plant with Siemens 501G turbines, under safety-driven procedures.

Responsibilities include start-up/shutdown, environmental compliance, and coordinating with contractors. Candidates should have 3–5 years of plant operations experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience in power plant operations and ability to operate and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word) for reporting and documentation.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, and P&ID diagrams.
• Demonstrated problem solving and preventative maintenance capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the power facility safely and efficiently.
• Start-up and shutdown of the facility per procedures.
• Complete required training on time and ensure environmental compliance.
• Analyze operating irregularities and report them.
• Maintain facility availability and cleanliness; follow all safety practices.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors; supervise plant technicians as needed.
• Develop operating policies and procedures and assist on projects.
• Lead and mentor team members and ensure adherence to safety programs.
