Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking an experienced maintenance technician to support boiler, turbine, generator instrumentation and related control systems. You will troubleshoot, calibrate, test, and maintain protective relays, metering, and controls to ensure safe, reliable plant operation.

Responsibilities include reading P&IDs and diagrams, using oscilloscopes and meters, and coordinating with apprentices while adhering to safety and environmental regulations. DOT requirements apply.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 5 years electronics, pneumatics, and instrumentation experience, or an associate’s degree in electrical technology.
  • DOT PHMSA position; pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and follow safety guidelines to protect self, coworkers, plant equipment and the public.
  • Install, calibrate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain protective relays, metering, monitoring and control systems for boilers, turbines, generators and auxiliaries.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, control diagrams, manuals, blueprints, and system drawings to locate and repair plant systems.
  • Use test equipment and hand tools to troubleshoot and maintain plant devices and systems.
  • Complete accurate written and electronic records including work orders and calibration sheets.
